In our ongoing mission to redefine the way we connect with our faith and extend a helping hand to those in need, The Location embarked on its 2nd community outreach with our mobile units.

This Sunday, the 26th, marked a significant day of service, where we provided 18 showers and completed 4 loads of laundry for our homeless neighbors.

This post aims to shed light on the dedication of our team, the challenges faced, and the urgent need for continued support, especially in the face of the cold weather.

Dedication Despite the Cold:

On that chilly Sunday, the temperature served as a testament to our team and volunteers unwavering commitment.

As the mercury dropped, our team braved the elements to ensure that our homeless neighbors had access to basic hygiene services.

The cold weather highlighted the urgency of our mission, emphasizing the critical role that showers play in the well-being of individuals facing homelessness.

Logistical Challenges and Costs:

Behind the scenes, our commitment comes with logistical challenges and associated costs. To transport our mobile units from McKinney to DFW, each vehicle incurs a fuel cost of 15 gallons minimum with the fluctuating cost of fuel.

Our generator, essential for powering the mobile units, consumes 5 gallons of E-zero gas. Our propane tanks hold 80 gallons and are needed to heat water for showers.

The dedication to cleanliness extends to our laundry services, where we use Earth Breeze detergent sheets at $44 per box of 60 sheets, sometimes requiring 4 sheets per load due to the dirtiness of clothes. We do not use liquid or powder detergent only detergent sheets for sanitation purposes.

Shampoos and body wash, crucial for personal hygiene, come at a cost of $20 per gallon.

Financial Partnerships for Future Deployments:

As we strive to make a more significant impact, our goal is to deploy units seven days a week.

However, to achieve this, we acknowledge the need for financial partnerships. The financial breakdown provided reflects the real costs associated with our outreach efforts, emphasizing the importance of support from our community and beyond.

The Camp Victorious Connection:

This outreach is not just about showers and laundry; it’s about providing hope and laying the foundation for a better future.

This blog post underscores the necessity of Camp Victorious, our Enhanced Shelter Program, as a long-term solution to homelessness.

The tiny house community, with its three zones offering temporary shelter, transitional housing, and permanent housing, stands as a beacon of hope in our quest to eliminate homelessness.

The Location’s 2nd Community Outreach with our mobile units was a testament to our dedication and the challenges we face in our mission to make a meaningful impact on the lives of those experiencing homelessness.

As we navigate the logistical and financial aspects of our outreach, we invite individuals and organizations to join us in this journey. Together, we can bring warmth, cleanliness, and hope to those in need.
